About Encounter Series

This is the web version of Encounter Series, the app by Advenz for following Encounter Series 1, 2, 3 and 4. Until it was published there was no complete, working way to follow the plan; today you can do it on your phone with the app or in any browser with this site.

What is the Encounter Series?

The Encounter Series is a devotional guide leading to a personal experience with God. The project was compiled by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and divided into four parts: Encounter 1, the four gospels and the book The Desire of Ages; Encounter 2, the Bible from Acts to Revelation together with The Acts of the Apostles and The Great Controversy; Encounter 3, the first half of the Old Testament with Patriarchs and Prophets; and Encounter 4, the second half of the Old Testament with Prophets and Kings.

Basically it is your Bible year in four different ways. It is an investiture requirement for several advanced Youth Ministry classes, and with the app and this site keeping track of your progress is much easier.

The app

The Android app is free and brings the same plan to your pocket: it reminds you every day at the time you choose, works offline with the whole Bible and the five books included, reads the text aloud, lets you highlight and underline, and keeps a backup of your progress in the cloud. The iPhone version is in the works.

Sources

This site uses the King James Bible to show the verses, and the books The Desire of Ages, The Acts of the Apostles, The Great Controversy, Patriarchs and Prophets and Prophets and Kings, by Ellen G. White.

Our ministry

This ministry supports the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church but receives no support from the Church or the General Conference. Building and maintaining these apps takes time and money; the ads help cover part of the costs. If you would like to use all our apps without ads, consider a donation from the app.

Privacy

The site keeps your progress, highlights and preferences only in your browser; it has no accounts and sends none of that to any server. With your consent it uses Google Analytics to measure usage and Google AdSense to show ads; you can change your choice from the "Cookies" link at the bottom of every page.
